  Our trip to Sitka Alaska and our stay at the Golden Alaska Lodge was more than we hoped. The lodge was rustic and contemporary at the same time. All of the normal conveniences plus a hot tub, sauna and jet tub. The vies never ceased to amaze. An eagles nest in a tree by the driveway and eagles constantly flying over head, sitting on a branch not far off the deck, or snatching a fish from the sea. When people in town asked where we were stay they all knew of the Lodge. We would recommend stay at the Lodge to anyone wanting to enjoy Sitka to the fullest.

  We rented the lodge to have a middle school graduation party and it exceeded our expectations. The property is beautiful, the views are amazing, and there is plenty of space and beds for everybody. We got plenty of use out of the clean and well maintained hot tub, sauna, and outdoor grill. The owner is so nice and responsive. You won’t regret staying at the Golden Alaska Lodge. I was sad to leave.

  Very beautiful with fantastic views. Problems we had were: No shade on skylight over upstairs bed. With the long days that saw rising Sun at 4:30am and not dark until after 11pm. Interior felt overstuffed, not very comfortable. Upstairs bath has no shower. Stairs have very narrow treads and are carpeted. This always made us unsure of footing. If a guest used the bed on 2nd floor landing they have to go down at night for bathroom. The entire upstairs was not really very comfortable.

  We rented this lodge with some of our best family friends so we had kids on the property with us. This cabin was perfect for our needs with an incredible view and lots of whale sightings! We enjoyed the outdoor amenities and the quiet it offered at the end of the road. With all that Sitka has to offer we spent little time indoors, but we did notice some upgrades that would help make a stay feel more at-home... the dryer and microwave were fidgety so appliance upgrades as mentioned in previous reviews would be helpful. The linens and towels are near the end and it was hard to get the towels dry with the current dryer. I realize these are little things when you are surrounded by complete magic, but these small changes could improve anyone’s experiences; especially since that hot tub is sure enticing and towels were gone through quickly!
  
  The host was extremely communicative and helpful, always making sure we had what we needed. He even called us while on a run to let us know whales were coming towards the house! That evening of whale activity alone will be a memory I hold near with my kids for a long, long time. You will rent this Lodge for an Alaskan experience and you will get just that. :)

  Our family of four stayed five nights in this lovely secluded home with stunning views. It was a perfect place in Sitka to put down roots and do daily activities. The location is very private and beautiful, with views of fishing boats coming and going and a resident eagle's nest on site. Easy access to path to the rocky shore across the street. Hot tub was especially well positioned and lovely. Plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen well stocked and easy to use. There are a few things that could be different: no/very little shampoo and bath soap, which is surprising for a property of this quality, outdoor pebble cement patio is very painful on bare feet and needs an outdoor rug or mat to make it usable, and easy to get to hot tub, as house is "shoes off", very old grill needs replacement, as we were excited to grill our freshly caught fish and found it poor condition. Otherwise perfect!

  First off the owner was extremely kind to allow my friends and I to book when we did, accommodating our needs. The home is very comfortable, tons of space, really utilized the upstairs for more sleeping arrangements. The hot tub was super clean and easy to use. The view was the best! The windows frame up bear mountain beautifully and I couldn’t have asked for a better night stay.

  Let me just say that this rental is in one of the most beautiful places I have ever traveled. The location and views from the house are unapparelled. We spent a ton of time on the deck and just taking in the magnificent vista. The house and furnishings were adequate. There are some updates that could be done to make it a truly perfect experience. Windows could use some functional help. The refrigerator is super loud and needs to be replaced as it is clearly 20 years old. Some of the interior trim needs to be affixed, new furnature, grill is poorly maintained, etc. However, the house was clean, nicely decorated and the hot tub is a perfect way to end or begin a day here. The eagles nest was a source of constant entertainment. Would definitely recommend this house for anyone visiting Sitka.

  The property is located in an incredible location with stunning view over the Silver Bay. The view itself sells Alaska. The property is clean and with lots of Alaska touches, incredible authentic decor and Alaska is felt in every piece of the furniture and layout. Would recommend, BUT some things need to be fixed\changed:
  new towels (some of the towels were old and they have seen better days)
  handles knobs in bathrooms are loose and the person can not lock it when using it.
  Also want to mention that the response from the manager and owner was right there and got all the support and requests answered and managed exceptionally well and professional.
  would recommend and would book that property again!

  We stayed 3 days in Sitka at the Golden Alaskan Lodge. I would say it far more a home than a lodge. Plenty of beds, complete kitchen, laundry, etc. Hot tub and sauna came in handy on our rainy days. Great views of the bay and all the fishing going on out there. If you have a full house, the bathroom situation might be a little tight, but otherwise great home for a family gathering.

  With no other homes in sight (other than an eagles nest in the front yard), be prepared for all the privacy you could want as you enjoy the views of the bay. We found the home to be nicely appointed with everything you would need for a restful stay or gourmet meal. The sauna and hot tub made for a nice end to the day, too! Only thing missing was room darkening window treatments. Other than that, this is the nicest vacation rental in Sitka. You can’t go wrong so book it!

  I will give credit where due. The views are breathtaking. But the house itself is not great. First, this is a 2 bedroom 1 bath home. What they have in the upstairs loft is an open area with crammed in beds. A bathroom with only 2 walls overlooking the rest of the house. No one is using that. No black out curtains upstairs, so the skylight over the queen bed gets that 4AM direct hit of sun. Which doesn't matter anyway, because again, it's an open space so you're getting sun from the rest of the house. The beds, linens, towels, and appliance all appear to be from the 80s. They are uncomfortable, dingy, overused. Furniture was crammed in ever corner, making it impossible to fully open several doors. The house itself was only clean superficially. Do not go searching for that lost sock under the bed, you'll be in for a dusty dirty surprise. I have also never experienced sofas so uncomfortable. This place is in desperate need of some updates and renovations. But it's Sitka, housing is at a premium. Doubt it will ever get there, and still guests will pay an arm and a leg. Just know what you're getting yourself into.

  Property has an exquisite view. Location/Property is not accurate as it is advertised and neither is the amenities. The hot tub was broken and it was not disclosed. The jet tub upstairs has broken jets and the water heater cannot accommodate the filling of the tub. When we arrived we found dirty underwear and socks upstairs in the loft. The property is advertised as a 4 bedroom but there is 2 proper bedrooms downstairs. Upstairs there is a bed in the loft with an adjoining bedroom that has an additional adjoining office type room with a small bed. You need to walk through the bedroom to get to the other room and the bathroom is open so you can hear every noise. The cleaner came mid stay to take the vacuum. The towels in the cabinet were full of dog hair and the house was not very clean. Would pay more to stay somewhere a little nicer and well kept.

  This is our second time staying at the lodge. Both times my wife and I and our son's family stayed while we visited our daughters family in Sitka. They have a very small house so this gives us plenty of room with great views. On a cold wet day it is a great place to drink a cup of hot coffee while reading a good book. We love the placed and will be definitely staying again.
